News on Jacare

an article from graciemag.com (portugese edition)

Alliance has won their fifth world championship. Gracie Barra took second and CheckMat placed third.

It was definitely an unforgettable World Championship. Romero "Jacare" Cavalcanti received his 7th degree red and black belt (coral belt) from the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation. This achievement put Jacare in the spotlight; and the crowd responded with thunderous applause. Also receiving the red and black belt where Sergio Penha and Maurição Gomes, father of Roger Gracie. After more than 31 years as a black belt Jacare received his official promotion notification from the IBJJF prior to the World Championships. Tuesday evening Professor Cavalcanti received the new belt at his academy in Atlanta, Ga; in a moving ceremony. We here at Gracie Mag are sure Rolls Gracie, Jacare’s Master, would be proud. Congratulations to all, and long live Master Jacare.
