Thursday Night Beginners Class

Today's beginner's class opened up with some fundamental self-defense.

To start the technique, Bart grabs Jacare from behind. Jacare immediately protects his neck, squats down to lower his base so Bart can't pull him backwards

Jacare puts his chin to his chest and throws Bart over his head

Note: Jacare keeps his balance and doesn't fall on top of Bart and maintains control of the arm after the throw is complete

To finish Jacare places his knee on Bart's stomach

And starts dropping bombs! (An armbar would of worked but I guess he was pissed at Bart)

Thursday Night Class Recap

Tonight's class we continued our theme of attacking the Turtle. Tonight's technique is the Clock Choke

To start the technique DJ shoots in and Cobrinha sprawls. (Note: When Cobrinha sprawls he uses his left arm to cross face). Cobrinha immediately moves around to DJ's back.

From here Cobrinha can take DJ's back but Cobrinha also has the option to look for the submission. Cobrinha reaches inside DJ's far collar with his left hand and controls DJ's arm with his right

Cobrinha pulls DJ's arm inside and puts his head to the floor

To apply pressure to the choke Cobrinha begins to walk around DJ's head

Thursday Lunch Class

Today we started with a way to take the back off of a attempted takedown:

Cobrinha followed with another variation of taking the back off of a shot:

- Jordan shot in and Cobrinha spins a little to the back.

- Jordan pushes to his left, and Cobrinha switches his hips.

- Cobrinha prepares to move his hips.

- Continuing preparations.

- Continuing the hip movement.

- Cobrinha is about to take the back.

- Cobrinha gets the hooks.

- And finishes with his hooks and a seatbelt grip.

Beginner Class Recap

In tonight's beginners class we started out with some self defense warm ups, where we got to take out some frustrations with up kicks. The technique we focused on today was a sweep from the Open Guard.

Nina is standing in Jenifer's Open Guard

To set up the sweep, Jen switches her grip. She passes Nina's right sleeve to her right hand and grapes Nina's ankle with her left.

To sweep, Jen hooks her right foot behind Nina's left foot (The lower the better), and pushes Nina backwards with her left foot.

Jen keeps control of Nina's sleeve and uses Nina's momentum to bring herself on top

Once she comes on top Jen secures the half guard

Thursday Lunch Class

Today we started with throws for warm ups:

This was followed by a way to take someone's back off of a well defended armbar:

- Cobrinha dislikes Darren, so he decided to break Darren's arm. In order to do this Cobrinha is pulling up and rolls to his right shoulder.

- Darren says "Screw you I am strong!" and tries to do a sit up.

- As Darren tries to sit up Cobrinha says "There is a reason I am a world champion son! Respect!" And then swings his leg down and around, allowing Darren to continue his stupid idea, the sit up.

- Darren sat all the way up. Cobrinha says "EPIC FAIL!" and takes his back.

- Cobrinha completes the Ezeikiel from the rear. Darren is choked all the way out, and Cobrinha takes Darren's lunch money.
